Wick House

History

Wick House is named for Warner Wick, who received his PhD in philosophy from the University and returned as a faculty member, assuming important administrative duties during the turbulent 60s. His widow, Peggy Wick, has visited Wick House and joined students in the tradition of holding a brunch at the end of each quarter.

Culture

Wick House is located on the second and third floors of Broadview Hall, a dormitory comprised mostly of single rooms and positioned to give equally easy access to campus and downtown. Our house community is active, allowing many opportunities for those who want to take breaks from study and join in several activities during each week. The House Council is strong and has a large role in planning events that reach across interests and across the city. Recent events include a Harry Potter premier, a Second City Theater performance, and high tea with professors in the resident heads apartment. Most activities involve food, and students get lots of chances to share their culinary expertise, try out new recipes, learn how to cook for the first time, or simply share meals at the house dining table.
