Prospective & Admitted Students
We hope that you will enjoy reading about the various ways that UChicago students connect with one another as residents of the College Houses. From day one, our students enjoy living in smaller communities, known as Houses, which break down the large-scale feeling of the bigger residence halls. Living in a House means that you will always have a cohort of friends and Housemates with whom you can study, eat, and spend time. As you read about the residence halls and Houses, imagine where you might live. We hope that you will consider applying to UChicago–we would love to have you join our community!
Congratulations! Once you accept the offer and pay your enrollment deposit, you will be able to access your housing application on the Admitted Students website. Housing applications are considered based on the date you pay your enrollment deposit–so the earlier you decide to attend and pay your enrollment deposit, the greater you improve your opportunity to be assigned to one of your top three residence hall choices.
After you learn about the residence halls from this website and the College Admissions website, the Incoming Students Guide to College Housing will answer most of your questions about room and roommate assignment procedures, the meal plan, and other details. If you want to visit the residence halls before making your decision, we invite you to attend one of the College Admissions April Overnight programs for admitted students. For information about these programs, call the Admissions Office at (773) 702-8650 or go to the College Admissions website.
Remember: Students are placed in the housing assignment queue based on the date of their enrollment deposit payment. Your housing assignment will be available online at my.UChicago.edu by the end of the first full week of August if you pay your enrollment deposit by May 1. Assignments made for deposits received later will be available in late August.
