Facilities & Equipment
Each residence hall student room offers one Ethernet jack per resident. One 25' cable is issued to each incomming Freshman or Transfer student by NSIT at orientation. We provide one active jack per bed. If there are fewer active ethernet ports than residents in a room, please file a work order or contact your RCA for assistance. Do note: all dorms have wireless 802.11b network access. South Campus Residence Hall has both 802.11b and faster 802.11n (5MHz) wireless network access.
Front Desk Printers
Each residence hall has a publicly accessible copier/printer/scanner as part of the university's new Unified Print Services. As of September 2009, all residence halls have an all-in-one system that allows printing in color or black-and-white, in standard, duplex (front and back). You can also use them to copy or scan papers that you can then print or save to a USB thumb drive.
Instructions for setting up your computer to print will be updated available online. File a workorder, or contact your RCA for assistance.
Email Kiosks
Some computers have been placed in each building lobby to provide convenient means for residents to check their email via internet access to Webmail.
Dorm Labs
All undergraduate residence halls have a computer lab accessible via the student's building entry key. These labs are open to all residents of the building at all times of the day and their use is governed by the Residence Hall Computer Lab policy.
Each lab has several Apple computers now configured to run OS X. All iMacs run Microsoft Office and a range of standard communications tools.
Personal Equipment
Personal computing equipment and software is available through the NSIT Solution Center.
