Network Access Instructions

All use of university networks must be in compliance with NSIT's Eligibility and Acceptable Use Policy for Information Technology.

Access the wired and wireless networks with DHCP

DHCP is available on both the wired network in residence halls and libraries, and on the uchicago wireless network.

First configure your computer for DHCP according to the instructions for your operating system:

Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Windows Vista
Windows XP

Then, register to NSIT's network with your CNETID for wired access, or join the uchicago network for wireless access.

Network Wirelessly

For connection instructions, see "Internet Access with DHCP" supra. No static IP addresses are available.

NSIT currently operates the uchicago wireless network in dormitories and other locations around campus.

As of August 2009, all dorms have wireless access in rooms and lounges. Residents are not allowed to set up personal wireless access points in accordance with NSIT policy.
