Both Wired and Wireless connections are available in every room in each Residence Halls. Wired connections range from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps. Wireless connectivity is available for mobile devices. The University utilizes enterprise grade WPA2 security for its WiFi, meaning home wireless devices such as Amazon Fire TV sticks, Rokus, Alexas, Nintendo consoles, etc. are not supported. Please see the documentation to the right for further information.
All devices must register their MAC addresses registered at netreg.uchicago.edu. MAC address are unique identifiers tied to the physical machine being registered. MAC, or hardware, addresses can usually be found in the network settings of the device. Your CNet ID and password are required to use ethernet services on campus.
Connecting to the WiFI
Mac and Windows:
– Connect to uchicago-secure and enter your CNET ID and password. Settings should be configured automatically.

– Configure the settings as follows:
– Wi-fi Security: WPA & WPA2 Enterprise
– Authentication: Protected EAP (PEAP)
– PEAP Version: Automatic
– Inner authentification: MSCHAPv2
– Enter your CNET ID and Password.
For residents, the University recommends the use of G Suite for email services. Users enrolled for G Suite will use Gmail as their email service provider by going to gmail.uchicago.edu. Updates to G Suite are controlled by IT Services to provide for continuous service without downtime. Full access to the Google Productivity Suite is included, with unlimited storage. To ensure that you have selected G Suite as your email client, please go to myaccount.uchicago.edu
