We hope that you will enjoy reading about the various ways that UChicago students connect with one another as residents of the Houses. From day one, our students enjoy living in smaller communities, known as Houses, which break down the large-scale feeling of the bigger residence halls. Living in a House means that you will always have a cohort of friends and Housemates with whom you can study, eat, and spend time. As you read about the residence halls and Houses, imagine where you might live. We hope that you will consider applying to UChicago–we would love to have you join our community!
The University of Chicago College faculty believe that the Houses play an important role in a student’s academic and social adjustment to the University. All first-year students are thus required to live in the Houses for their first academic year to assist with the transition to college. Entering transfer students are welcome but not required to live in the Houses.
