ASSIGNMENT PROCESS
New students are randomly assigned to a residence hall and House. After each new student’s residence hall and House has been determined, our occupancy management team uses responses to prompts from the housing application steps to determine each student’s room type and room/suite mate(s) (if applicable). Not all new students will have room/suite mate(s), as on average between 25-30% of new students are assigned to single occupancy rooms.
All our residence halls and Houses are unique and engaging and we have found that most students quickly make connections in whatever residence hall and House they have been assigned. All residence halls are co-educational. Room and suite mate assignments are generally made based on same biological sex; however, gender inclusive housing options are available for students who would prefer to live within the same room with students of opposite biological sex. Additionally, each residence hall offers at least one floor or section dedicated to single sex housing options.
Housing assignments are considered final once released in mid-August. Students who would like to be considered for a future room change after the start of the academic year may submit a request through the myHousing portal. More information on room changes can be found here.
