Whether you’re arriving on campus for the very first time, packing up for the end of the school year, or simply planning your trip home for a break, we want to ensure your experience is as convenient as possible. For planning purposes, we’ve posted the dates for each of these transition periods below. Additional details about each period will be posted in the weeks leading up to it.
Move In
New Students: Tuesday, September 23, 2025
Returning Students: Friday, September 26, 2025

Thanksgiving Break
Monday, November 24 – Friday, November 28, 2025
Residence halls are open during the break. Residents are welcome to remain on campus without requesting additional permission
Winter Break
Saturday, December 14, 2025 (12 PM) – Saturday, January 2, 2026 (8 AM)
The majority of residence halls are closed during winter break and residents are expected to travel home or make alternative housing arrangements.
Limited on campus housing during the break is available in International House, Renee Granville-Grossman Residential Commons and Woodlawn Residential Commons only. Residents living on campus during Autumn Quarter who intend to continue living on campus for Winter Quarter and have significant need for housing are required to apply and receive approval to stay on campus during the break. The application process opens in mid-October. Very limited, if any, on campus housing options will be available for residents who seek break housing and aren’t living in one of above halls. If options are available, only those with the greatest need, as determined by Housing & Residence Life, will be given priority. These residents will be required to relocate temporarily to vacancies in one of the above halls during the break and relocate back to their academic year housing assignments at the conclusion of the break.
Students approved for break housing are assessed $1,100.00 to their University account to cover this additional period of housing, regardless of the number of nights spent on campus during the break. Financial aid dedicated to break housing is not available.
