HOUSING APPLICATION
The first step to living on campus is to apply. Within the housing application, new students can provide responses to specific prompts centered around:
- Sleeping and study habits
- How they envision engaging within their room space with others
- preferences on room types and other attributes, such as gender-inclusive and single-sex housing options
HOUSING CONTRACT
To complete the housing application process, Students must digitally sign their housing contract. New students under the age of 18 at the time of completing their housing application will be prompted to have their legal guardian digitally countersign their housing contract. By signing this contract, you acknowledge and agree to adhere to Housing Policies and Procedures outlined in the Housing Contract.
THE ASSIGNMENT PROCESS
New students are randomly assigned to a Residence Hall and House. After each new student’s residence hall and House has been determined, our Occupancy Management Team uses responses to prompts from your housing application to determine your room type and room/suite mate(s) (if applicable). Not all new students will have room/suite mate(s), as on average between 25-30% of new students are assigned to single occupancy rooms.
THE JOURNEY BEGINS
Housing assignments will be released in mid-August and are considered final. After housing assignments are published, we will send communication to your UChicago email regarding move-in closer to the start of Autumn Quarter.
